OH! MAN IT'S JACKSON
BY A CORRESPONDENT

17 November 2005

No one is talking, but the whole world knows it by now. Pop icon Michael Jackson is in Muscat and spent his second day here yesterday on his first ever visit to the Sultanate. Sources described his visit as 'private', but said he was "exploring" possibilities of investing in Oman's real ...

estate, taking a close look at a number of upcoming mega tourism projects. Yesterday morning, he reportedly spent an hour visiting the $10 billion Blue City Project, by far the country's biggest tourism scheme, launched in June this year. Although no details of the visit were available, Jackson was said to have evinced a keen interest in the project. When fully completed in about 15 years, the township, stretching across 34 square kilometres at the Al Sawadi seafront area in Barka, will house more than 200,000 residents. Jackson was driven back to the Grand Hyatt Hotel, where he is staying, after the Sawadi trip. Although hotel officials would neither confirm nor deny his presence, several people said they had "sighted" the legendary American music star "with our own eyes" at the Seeb International Airport upon his arrival here from Dubai on Tuesday and later at the Grand Hyatt.

He is said to be staying in the hotel's fifth-floor royal suite where he virtually spent the entire day on Tuesday holding a series of "business" meetings. Sources said that he would leave Oman today, "either in the morning or evening... The plans are being finalised."

Police seek all Jackson video clips from mall
By Amira Agarib

DUBAI — Apprehending commercial exploitation of the video clips
and photographs of Michael Jackson, the Dubai Police have asked the
management of Ibn Batuta Mall to hand over all shots of the pop icon
during his visit to the mall last week. Besides the video shots that
several shops would have from their close-circuit monitoring systems,
shoppers too had taken snaps of the singer. Police are keen that
people don't exploit the situation for commercial purposes.

COPS WANT JACKSON FOOTAGE
BY AMIRA AGARIB

The Dubai Police has written to the management of Ibn Batuta Mall to hand over the video clips of Michael Jackson taken by the camera monitors in different shops, or those taken by shoppers who saw the pop star during his visit to the mall last week.

Jackson visited many shops during his visit to the mall. The Dubai Police does not want any person or shop owner to use or exploit the situation by using photographs of Michael Jackson for any commercial purpose or otherwise. All the pictures handed over by the shops will be handed over to forensic laboratory.

The decision by the police to call in for all the pictures of the singer was taken following the flutter caused by Michael Jackson entering the ladies toilet in the mall to fix his make-up. His presence in the toilet had scared a woman shopper, who later took his photographs.
