Mission Statement
About
The primary purpose of the Michael Jackson Accountability Network (M.J.A.N.) is for rational presentation of ideas, critique, and discussion, concerning the welfare of Michael Jackson’s children. As Mr.Jackson has often expressed, we do not wish to see these children damaged by premature celebrity or any other form of exploitation. Further, we will monitor the release of Michael Jackson’s music and other, related products, for the quality-control that befits his legacy as musician, artist, and humanitarian. We will attempt to counteract negative portrayals of Michael Jackson in the media with truth.
Who we are.
We are a diverse group of people united for common purposes, of caring and concern for Michael Jackson’s children, and for the preservation of Michael’s legacy in the ways he deserves, after his forty-year career of bringing joy and delight to his audiences through his music, dancing, short films, and his writing. Michael Jackson should be honored and respected for his artistry, for his excellence as a parent, and for his philanthropy.
We are of a variety of ages, nationalities, and professions. Some of us are fans, and some are not, but we all share concern for what we now feel is the exploitation of Michael’s children, and a lack of care about the music that is being released from his archive of artistic production. We deplore the continuing negative media portrayal of Michael Jackson, at the expense of his great achievements, and his legacy as a cultural icon.

MJAN Calls for an End to Diversion Tactics
We at MJAN call for an end to diversions, and for a return of attention by media, fans, and Michael Jackson’s family, to what is really important – a focus on Michael’s unsolved homicide. According to the charges brought against Michael Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray, Michael lost his life at the hands of another. No one has yet been brought to justice for Michael’s death. In many ways the plot seems to have been lost amidst confusion about the authenticity of some songs on the upcoming album, Michael, and in the apparent chaos of his mother’s income-generating schemes, in-fighting among family members, interviews, and combative blurbs on social networking sites. What has been lost in all the digressive chatter, is the fact that justice for Michael remains to be served.
Randy Jackson, Michael’s brother, conducted a Twitter interview with Michael’s fans On Nov. 17. It is not clear why he would turn to social media and conversations with strangers, to voice his concerns? (Those are not his fans anyway, but those of his deceased brother.} Regardless, he spoke about a rift between the Jackson family and the estate executors, John Branca and John McClain. If there are issues with the executors of the estate, should that not be a matter for the courts? in response to a question about a possible conspiracy in his brother’s death, Randy simply tweeted, “This story has not ended, things are still unfolding.” If the family members have concerns about the way in which Michael died, why are they not outraged and calling for justice, instead of chatting online with fans about a variety of topics?
That Michael Jackson’s mother and children were interviewed by Oprah Winfrey displays questionable judgment and raises concerns about the emotional safety of Michael’s children. Leaked music has generated controversy about the authenticity of at least some of the songs on Michael’s upcoming album. Is this Michael we are hearing, or an imposter? The controversy has been so intense, that one may wonder if this could be an attempt to sabotage the album? Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson, has entered into a dubious contractual agreement with Howard Mann, about the marketing of her son’s products and the possible exploitation of his children for her own financial gain. Michael’s siblings and extended family are engaging in tweet-wars as they complain publicly about one-another and about songs on the album, instead of using the court-system to file complaints. All of this chaotic chatter is digressive of what should be the most important issue at hand – justice for Michael.
One would expect that the family would be vocal for justice, instead of quarreling with one-another, tweeting to Michael’s fans, and conducting interviews for pay. One also would expect that the fans would be in support of justice for Michael, as a primary focus. We at MJAN are calling for a return to rationality, and even passion, as we ask all who care about Michael Jackson to rededicate themselves to seeking justice for a man who gave the world so much, in his artistry, courage, and character. Enough is enough, of quarreling and diversions, when there is a larger issue at stake.

Open Letter to Sony, the Michael Jackson Estate and the Jackson family
A devoted Michael Jackson fan has submitted this open letter to M.J.A.N. It is being forwarded to Sony, the Michael Jackson Estate and the Jackson family:
To Sony, the Michael Jackson Estate and the Jackson family
I sit here with a broken heart. My hero, Michael Jackson, spent half of his short life being ridiculed and abused by the media; he went through 2 trials for crimes he didn’t commit and finally he died at the hands of another. Is it not enough that the fans have gone through all of this with our hero, been emotionally drained time & time again and grieved for someone we could never say goodbye too? Now, when we finally get some good news about some new, never before heard music, it is shrouded in controversy. Fans are already canceling their pre-orders and vowing not to buy the album. They are confused, angry and sad.
The track Breaking News (and other Cascio tracks) are clearly causing division between the family, the Estate, Sony and the fans – did Michael sing these songs or didn’t he? The answer, quite frankly, is irrelevant. The tracks should be omitted from this album regardless of whether or not they are authentic so the drama can cease. I am begging you to stop this from going any further. Michael reportedly left 100’s of songs for you to pick from… choose 3 others. It’s quite simple. Check the fan forums to see what they want. They’re the people that will (or won’t) be buying the music. Please, please, think about what you’re doing and reconsider.
The fans do not deserve this after all they’ve been through.

Controversy Swirls around New Michael Jackson Release, Breaking News
Controversy Swirls around New Michael Jackson Release, Breaking News.
The news that is breaking about Sony’s release of a Michael Jackson single, Breaking News, is that the vocals on the song may not be entirely authentic. It’s likely that Sony has underestimated the fans’ knowledge of Michael’s music, as fans quickly began to question if that was Michael Jackson’s voice they were hearing, or a blend of both a Jackson-impersonator and his own voice, and sampled portions of other previously released Jackson music.
The uncertainty about the authenticity of Breaking News does not bode well for Michael’s legacy, in terms of future releases. Michael has given the world precious gifts in his many recorded songs; he was also a perfectionist, and would not release music until it met with his satisfaction. It’s highly unlikely Michael would have been satisfied with this song, or would have allowed its release.
Sony’s motivations in releasing what many fans consider to be a substandard recording, are unclear. It is possible that the use of an impersonator’s voice could have opened the door to other, similar, manipulations of Michael’s music in the future? If so, the fans were quick to call into question the authenticity of this song. Many are literally, “not buying it.”
Members of Michael Jackson’s own family are also questioning this new release. Tito Jackson’s son, Taryll, made the following statement (http://www.twitlonger.com/show/6s7j61)
“If you question the validity of a professional photo you can ask the photographer for more pictures from that photo shoot. If it is authentic the photographer will turn over different shots. Some with different poses, some even with eyes closed. I questioned the validity of the vocal’s on “breaking news” and several other songs of theirs that I’ve heard and they told me no other takes or tracks exist. They claim my uncle was so happy with the performance he instructed them to delete all the other files. I had the honor to learn and watch my uncle record my entire life and that is NOT how he worked. No outtakes, no other tracks, no backups, no proof. roughly 10 songs they turned in — same story for all of them. I asked for the computer it was created on… they said it broke. I asked for the original hard drive… they said it was destroyed. One dubious excuse after another..”
For balance, music-producer Teddy Riley, who mixed the final version of the song, had this to say in a tweet:
“All I’m gonna say here is that I believe it’s MJ. The truth of this of it all no one knows (but) MJ and god knows…. I have nothing more to say and I can’t prove anything…I did not original(ly) produce his vocals nor these songs. I remix, made the tracks different from what they had which would have been unacceptable.”
Riley also had this to say, in a radio interview (http://gyantunplugged.com/tag/beehivefm-exclusive/)
“These vocals are Michael Jackson. All of the people who have been in the studio with Michael for 20 years all the professionals and musicologists went in and they all say it’s Michael including me. We worked with Michael, we have been in the studio with Michael.”
We at M.J.A.N. are registering our displeasure at the disrespect shown to Michael’s artistry and legacy in the release of Breaking News, given the controversy already swirling – is this, or is this not, Michael Jackson? If that question must be asked, it is our opinion that this represents a serious problem in terms of Sony’s respect for Michael’s music in future releases.

List otwarty do Sony, Michael Jackson's Estate i rodziny Jacksonów.
Oddany Michaelowi Jacksonowi fan przedstawił ten list otwarty M.J.A.N. Został on przekazany do Sony, Zarządcom majątku Michaela Jacksona i rodzinie Jacksonów.
Michael podobno zostawił 100 piosenek do wyboru…wybierzcie 3 inne! Błagam, by zapobiec trwaniu tego dramatu. To takie proste. Sprawdźcie fora fanów, by przekonać się czego chcą. To oni będą kupować (albo nie) tę muzykę. Proszę, proszę zastanówcie się, co robicie i rozważcie to jeszcze raz.
Fani nie zasługują na to po wszystkim, przez co przeszli."
